Ok1s in post-war PKP service

 

Several photos from my collection. Most of these engines no longer exist…

 

Ok1_23


 

Ok1-288 (ex DRG 38 1928), BMAG 5887/1916, photographed at the Gdańsk Główny station in September 1964. Photo by Sigurd Hilkenbach. This engine was withdrawn in February 1978.

 

Ok1_30 

 

Ok1-24, formerly 38 1685, Schichau 2190/1914, photographed in Międzyrzecz on September 26, 1979. Withdrawn a few months later, in April 1980. Photo by Martin Stertz.

 

Ok1_31

 

Another photo by Martin Stertz from Międzyrzecz, taken on the same day: Ok1-316 (ex 38 2886), Vulcan 3643/1921. Withdrawn in March 1980.

 

Ok1_32

 

The same author and location, the next day: Ok1-296, formerly 38 2425, Schichau 2739/1919. Withdrawn in January 1981, it was later transferred to Deutsches Technikmuseum in Berlin and is currently on display there with original service numbers (see main page).

Another photo from the same session: Ok1-149 (ex 38 1689), Schichau 2196/1914. Withdrawn just three months later.

Ok1-284, photographed in Legnica on August 17, 1975, by Tadeusz Suchorolski. This engine, formerly 38 1862 (Linke-Hofmann 1302/1916), survived in service until December 1977.

 

Ok1_15

 

An Ok1 with a single coach was not an uncommon view on local lines in the 1970s. This beautiful photo of Ok1-334 was taken near Dychów by Geoff Plumb on June 26, 1974 (http://geoff-plumb.fotopic.net – thanks for permission!).

Ok1-198, formerly 38 2402 (BMAG 6947/1919), photographed in Kłosowice on June 4, 1979 (photo by Martin Stertz). Withdrawn in 1980, it was later plinthed in Żagań.

 

Ok1_38 

 

Another photo by the same author: Ok1-37 (pre-war Ok1-47, then 38 1138, Linke-Hofmann 1103/1914), photographed near Chociszewo on June 3, 1979. Withdrawn six months later and scrapped.

Ok1-51 (Henschel 12667/1914), Tczew, March 20, 1975. This locomotive served with KPEV as ‘Münster 2414’ and in 1919 became Belgian 6542. Having fallen into German hands in 1940, it ended up with PKP and was withdrawn from use in October 1976. Photo by Roman Witkowski (postcard from my collection).

 

 

Ok1-215 (Vulcan 3669/1920), photographed at the Tłuszcz depot in 1965. Built for KPEV and numbered ‘Magdeburg 2521’, this engine later became DRG 38 2912. It was withdrawn from PKP in March 1976. Photo by COBiRTK (from my collection).
